My Philosphy
"You will discover yourself, like a lotus flower in full bloom, even in muddy pond, beautiful and strong." - Masaru Emoto
I believe that everyone deserves to live life to their best potential. However, for many people current relationship stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, racism along with other personal struggles, may prevent us from living our optimal life.
My philosophy is, if individuals/couples are given an opportunity to have a safe space where their experiences can be validated, then they will be able to heal and find their inner resources and strengths. It is never too late to make positive changes and live the life you want. Change comes in many different forms. Small changes can have a ripple effect in your everyday life and can eventually lead to bigger ones.
I work from an anti-oppressive and trauma informed framework. As racialized and marginalized clients acknowledge their pain and start the healing process, it can give them the strength they need to navigate through the oppression and inequality of living in a colonial system.
I consider each individual and couples unique and therefore work with them according to what best fits their needs and lifestyle. I am trained in a variety of modalities of therapy and I customize my approach to each client’s needs. My holistic approach to counselling allows me to incorporate an individual’s mind, body and spirit in the therapy process. I strongly believe that individuals are experts on their own lives and encourage them to be active participants.
My theoretical orientation is humanistic and eclectic. I draw from my Adlerian training and apply the basic principles of client-centred therapy through mutual respect, encouragement and collaboration. My on-going post graduate training has allowed me to utilize evidence-based and many other modalities of therapy.
